IsoMist Troubleshooting
The following table lists a number of actions that can be taken should
you encounter a problem with the IsoMist.
Possible Faults
Fault |
Remedy |
IsoMist
will not complete start up (status LED - violet) |
Check power cables are firmly connected.
Switch IsoMist power off and then on at the power outlet.
Repeat if necessary.
Tip: Do not connect a live power cable to IsoMist as a means
to start-up. Best practice is to always use power outlet on/off
switch.

Communication
error USB (or Bluetooth) |
Note:
When using the IsoMist, Bluetooth connections are only available
on computers with Microsoft Windows 7 operating systems which
is not supported with ICP Expert 7.5.
For both USB and Bluetooth
Check that the IsoMist is powered on.
Power down IsoMist, wait 10 seconds then power up.
Power down and then restart your PC.
Check the PC USB port (try using another USB device
that you know works and/or use a different PC USB port).
For USB Connections
Remove, then re-insert USB cable. Check that the cable is firmly
connected to the PC and IsoMist.
For Bluetooth Connections
Check USB cable is un-plugged from IsoMist.
Check that the Bluetooth adaptor is firmly inserted
into the computer USB port.
Remove then reinsert Bluetooth dongle.

Cannot
achieve set temperature |
Check ambient temperature is below 30°C (optimal room
temperature is 22°C).
Check there is adequate ventilation around IsoMist.
Check the spray chamber cover is screwed down correctly.
Check spray chamber for damage.
Change the temperature and then retry reaching the set
temperature.

Condensation

Check the drain (underside of IsoMist).
Check all connections to spray chamber.

Intermittent
USB Communication |
Check for corrosion
on the USB socket and cable contacts. If corrosion is present
on the cable contacts, use a new USB cable. If corrosion is present
on your computer’s USB socket, use an alternate USB socket free
of corrosion. Consult with your PC manufacturer for further advice
in regard to corrosion on your computer’s USB ports. |
Excessively
long time taken to reach set temperature below 0°C (> 40 min) |
Run IsoMist at
a set temperature of 60 °C for 24 hours to restore performance. |
Reset IsoMist to Default
Settings
To return IsoMist settings to default (Factory Settings):
- Power down the IsoMist.
- Turn on the power (or re-start from Standby).
- As the IsoMist starts up, the status LED changes to yellow (fan
speed will also slow).
- Press and hold down the Standby button, until LED changes to blue,
signaling that IsoMist has been reset to default.
- Release the Standby button. The IsoMist will now start as normal.
- IsoMist can also be reset to default from the software screen by
clicking Options>Advanced>Factory Defaults and then following
the prompts.
Troubleshooting
Bluetooth Settings
In the event that you experience problems connecting to the IsoMist
through the Bluetooth wireless network, check that the Bluetooth settings
are correct:
- Make sure the Bluetooth dongle is plugged into your PC and properly
installed.
- Right-click the Bluetooth icon in the taskbar (you may need to
click ‘Show hidden icons’ first) and then select Open Settings.
- Click the Options tab in the window that appears.
- Ensure Allow Bluetooth devices to connect to this computer
is checked.
- Ensure Alert me when a new Bluetooth device wants to connect
is checked.
- Click Apply and then OK.

Changing Bluetooth Dongle Used with IsoMist
Although IsoMist is commissioned and dispatched with its own (paired)
Bluetooth dongle, an alternative Bluetooth system can be substituted.
The following changes will need to be made to IsoMist:
- If connected, remove the previous Bluetooth dongle from your PC.
- Insert the new Bluetooth dongle into your PC.
- Right-click the Bluetooth icon in the taskbar and then select Open
Settings.
- Click the Hardware tab on the dialog box that appears.
- Select Generic Bluetooth and then click Properties.
- Click the Advanced tab in the dialog that appears.
- Write down the device address shown.
- Connect the IsoMist to your PC using the supplied USB cable.
- If not already running, start the IsoMist software and connect
to the IsoMist. The Connect button will change to USB when connected.
- Select Options>Advanced>Set IsoMist Bluetooth Pairing.
- Enter the device address found in Step 5, into the Bluetooth transceiver
address dialog box.
- Select Master or Slave PAN mode operation:
- Master (Bluetooth dongle)
- Slave (For assistance with third party Bluetooth please contact
supplier)
- Click OK.
- Disconnect the USB Cable and then close and restart the IsoMist
software.
The IsoMist should now be able to connect to your PC. A message should
appear within minutes, indicating IsoMist has successfully changed the
Bluetooth pairing.
