Cleaning the Air Inlet Filter

For Agilent 5100/5110 ICP-OES instruments only

Click here for instructions on how to replace the air inlet filter on Agilent 5800/5900 ICP-OES instruments.

The instrument requires clean, dry, non-corrosive air for cooling purposes. This is supplied to the instrument through an air supply vent located at the top of the instrument (beside the chimney). The vent is fitted with a dust filter to screen out particulate matter from the surrounding environment. This filter should be kept clean to prevent reduced air flow.

Always turn off your instrument before attempting to replace a filter and do not operate the instrument while the filter is removed.

To remove and clean the filter:

Show me how to replace the inlet filter.

  1. Turn off the ICP-OES instrument.
  2. Pull up the air filter handle to remove the air filter.
  3. Vacuum the filter to remove any buildup of dust and debris.
  4. If the filter has an oily buildup, wash the filter in a mild detergent and allow it to dry.
  5. To replace the filter, fit the rounded cut out over the tab on the air filter housing and then press down while you slide it into place.
