Applet Management

Create applets that can be used as templates to be used to run analyses without having to select all of the element and operating parameters. Create a method, save it as a template and then create a desktop icon. Double-click on the icon and run the analysis without having to configure anything but the number of samples to be run, solution labels, the solution type if QC is selected while creating the Applet, and the weight, volume and dilution factors that were used to create the solution.

When using the applet to run an analysis, the user will see a condensed version of ICP Expert containing only the items you've selected in the File > Options > ICP Applet menu while creating the applet.

Applets are not available when running the 21 CFR Part 11 software.

Applet Management, and enabling ICP Applet in the Options require the software to be 'Run as administrator' to make the options available.

To run the software as an administrator close ICP Expert, right-click on the desktop ICP Expert icon and then select 'Run as administrator'.

Switch between ICP Applet and ICP Expert software modes. This switch can be enabled in the File > Options > ICP Applet window.

This is not available when using the 21 CFR Part 11 compliance software.

Creating an Applet

To create an applet:

  1. Open a new or existing worksheet.
  2. Click File > Options > ICP Applet.
  3. Select Enable ICP Applet and then select or deselect the options you want shown in the ICP Applet view.
  4. Optional step: Click Security. Select ICP Expert to enable a password requirement when switching between the ICP Expert and ICP Applet modes. Type the password in the 'Set password' field.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Set up the method.
  7. When you have finished setting up the method, click Save > Save as Template in the toolbar.
  8. Navigate to the save location, enter a name for the template and then click Save.
  9. Close the worksheet.
  10. Click File > Applet Management.
  11. Click Add.
  12. Enter the applet name.
  13. Click Browse and navigate to the saved template. Select it and then click Open.
  14. Click Browse and navigate to where you want to save the applet shortcut to and then click OK. The default is to save it onto the PC desktop.

The applet is saved it to the desktop of the currently logged in user. Only users with administrator privileges can save the applet on to the desktop of any available user.

  1. Click Browse and then select the desired shortcut icon and then click Open.
  2. Click OK to save the shortcut.
  3. Click Close to close the Applet Management dialog box.
  4. To test the applet, close ICP Expert and then double-click on the applet shortcut to open a new worksheet from the template.

Using an Applet

To use an applet:

  1. Ensure ICP Expert is closed.
  2. Double-click on the applet icon to open the software.

About the Applet Management Dialog Box

Click File > Applet Management to open the dialog box.

If applets already exist, their icons will appear in this dialog box.

Repair Links

Use this to recreate the links between ICP Expert and saved or imported applets.

Select All

Selects all available applets in the list.

Import

Import previously created applets. This is useful when you've created the applets on one PC and want to run them on another or were provided applets. Navigate to and then select the applets to be imported and then click OK.

Export

Export applets to distribute or share. Select the applets(s) to be exported, navigate to the export location and then click OK.

Delete

Select the applet(s) to delete and then click Delete.

Add

Adds a new applet.

Add Applet

Links an icon and the template and creates a desktop shortcut using the template.

Applet name

Enter a name for the applet.

Template path

Select the location of the saved template.

Shortcut location

Select the location to save the applet shortcut to.

Shortcut icon

Select from several icons to customize your applets. If you have existing icon files (.ico extension), browse to the saved location, select the desired icon and then click Open.

Configure ICP Applet

Select the 'Enable ICP Applet' check box to make the ICP Applet accessible to users. Then, in the list, select the ICP Applet areas to which users will have access.

 ICP Expert must be run as administrator for these changes to be made.

Applets are not available when running the 21 CFR Part 11 software.
