SPS 3 Sample Preparation System

The Sample Preparation System (SPS) allows unattended operation of the ICP-OES and is compatible with a wide range of commercially available low‑cost autoclavable sample racks.

For safety information and to prepare the SPS 3 for installation, please see the instructions that came with the accessory.

To connect the SPS 3 to the ICP-OES:

  1. Remove the panel on the right side of the ICP-OES by holding the panel at the rear and pulling it to the right, freeing it from the retaining clips at the rear.
  2. Connect the RS232 cable supplied with the SPS 3 autosampler into the port indicated in the figure below on the ICP-OES.

  1. Connect the tubing from the SPS 3 to the solution inlet line on the peristaltic pump.

For autosamplers other than the Agilent SPS 3 and SPS 4 it is not always possible for ICP Expert to detect when the autosampler has gone out of alignment. Therefore it is not always possible for a run to be stopped in this situation.
