Add Drift Correction Lines

This is a regular monitoring process to correct for any wavelength drift due to varying environmental factors such as temperature and pressure. It involves monitoring the positions of one or more argon wavelengths in the plasma during sample uptake. Data collected suggests that monitoring one argon line is adequate to correct any wavelength drift to better than ±0.1 pixel. The pixel offset derived from monitoring is used to offset the wavelengths used when displaying and analyzing spectra.

To add additional lines:

  1. Open the Instrument Window.
  2. Click Configuration.
  3. Click Add line.
  4. Type in the element abbreviation and then select the wavelength required from the list.
  5. Press Enter on the keyboard.
  6. Click Restore Defaults to remove any added lines, if required.

After adding a line an instrument calibration is required to apply the changes and to ensure proper drift correction operation.

Set the Fast Pump Speed

This value will be used for all Fast Pump operations (including uptake, rinse, manual sampler dialog) in the ICP Expert software when connected to this instrument.

To set the fast pump speed:

  1. Open the Instrument Window.
  2. Click Configuration.
  3. Edit the fast pump speed.
  4. Click Set to store the fast pump speed value with the currently connected instrument.
