View Instrument Status

You can view the status of several instrument components in the Instrument Window Status tab. Click any flashing component on the instrument image to go to troubleshooting for that component.  

Copy Hardware Information

Follow the procedure below to see details about the instrument viewing mode and the instrument and component serial numbers, hardware, and firmware versions. These numbers can only be edited by your Agilent Field Representative.

  1. Click 'More hardware information' on the Instrument Window Status window.
  2. Click Copy Info and then paste as needed.

Manually Control Components

Manually control several instrument components in the Instrument Window Status tab.

Manually Adjust Gas Flows

These are manual control of flow rates only and cannot be adjusted while a worksheet is running.

Set desired and view actual gas flow rates:

  1. Click Instrument on the toolbar.
  2. Enter the required gas flow values on the Status page.
  3. Enable oxygen injection gas flow rate if running organic solvents and then set the oxygen percentage.

How do I adjust these settings in my worksheet?

Oxygen injection is only available when using ICP Expert Pro.

Use premixed 80%/20% Argon/Oxygen only.

Turn on Boost or Snout Purges

  1. Click Instrument on the toolbar.
  2. Select the Polychromator Boost and Snout purges to enable them on the Status page.

The Cone purge is automatically turned on when the plasma is turned on.

These are manual controls only and cannot be adjusted while a worksheet is running.

RF Power

This can only be set when the plasma is on. This is a manual control only and cannot be adjusted while a worksheet is running.

  1. Click Instrument on the toolbar.
  2. Set desired and view actual levels of the RF power produced by the RF generator on the Status page.

Adjust the Beam Selector Position and Viewing Height

This is a manual control only and cannot be adjusted while a worksheet is running.

This can only be set when the plasma is on.

  1. Click Instrument on the toolbar.
  2. Select the beam selector position (Axial, Radial or SVDV) on the Status page.
  3. If Radial or SVDV are selected, enter the required viewing height.

Select the beam selector position and enter the height on the Conditions page in a worksheet.

View Peltier and Polychromator Temperatures

This is useful to monitor to ensure that you don't start an analysis before the polychromator has reached 35 °C. This is display only and is not adjustable.

  1. Click Instrument on the toolbar.
  2. Scroll down to the Optics section on the right side of the Status page.

Manually Adjust the Pump Speed

Use this to change how fast to operate the peristaltic pump. This is a manual control only and cannot be adjusted while a worksheet is running.

  1. Click Instrument on the toolbar.
  2. Enter the desired pump speed on the Status page.

How do I set the Fast Pump speed for my analysis?

Switching Valve

Use this to check that the valve switches, and whether the uptake pump and bubble injector work.

  1. Click Instrument on the toolbar.
  2. Choose from Inject or Uptake to change the position of the switching valve. Click here for valve liquid pathway information.
  3. Enter the uptake pump rate in mL/min to check the flow rates.
  4. Select Bubble injector to introduce a bubble of argon gas into the line. This is useful to watch the flow of liquid in the tubing.

If you have replaced the valve or rotor, click Reset to ensure the valve is in the correct position.

IsoMist

Use this to change the IsoMist temperature. This is a manual control only and cannot be adjusted while a worksheet is running.

  1. Click Instrument on the toolbar.
  2. Edit the temperature on the Status page.
