Connect the ICP-OES to the Software
There are two ways to connect the instrument to the software:
Connecting the ICP-OES to ICP Expert software when PC is Connected Directly to the ICP-OES
To connect the ICP Expert software directly to the ICP-OES via an Ethernet cable there are two steps to follow:
- Determine the ICP-OES IP address
- Configure the ICP-OES network adapter on the PC
Determine the ICP-OES IP Address
The ICP-OES must be on and connected to the PC via the supplied Ethernet cable. If you already know the ICP-OES IP address, skip to Configure the ICP OES Network Adapter on the PC.
To determine the ICP-OES IP address:
- Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Agilent\ICP Expert\InstrumentLocator\
- Double-click ICPInstrumentLocator.exe.
- Write down the instrument IP address and subnet mask indicated.
Configure the ICP-OES Network Adapter on the PC
To configure the network adapter:
- Type "Control Panel" (without the quotes) into the Windows search next to the Start button and then select Control Panel.
- Click Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center.
- Click Change adapter settings.
- Double-click Local Area Connection.
- Click Properties.
- Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
- Click Properties.
- Select Use the following IP address.
- Enter the IP address of the ICP-OES except the last number. The last number must different to the IP address of the ICP-OES and be between 1-254. For example, if the IP address of your ICP-OES is 198.168.1.128, then you will enter 198.168.1.x where x is a number in the range of 1-254 but not 128.
- Enter the same subnet mask as the one found on the ICP-OES.
- Click OK and Close to close all windows and to commit the changes.
