Create a new IntelliQuant Calibration

This page provides instructions on how to create an IntelliQuant calibration.

IntelliQuant is not available when using ICP Expert with 21 CFR 11 enabled.

For additional information see:

Create a new IntelliQuant Calibration

A default calibration is provided with every instrument. However, you can create your own to suit your analysis requirements.

To create a new IntelliQuant Calibration:

  1. Check that the snout, cone, torch and all tubing on the spray chamber, nebulizer and peristaltic pump are correctly connected.
  2. Turn on the external instrument exhaust and ICP-OES power to the instrument (if you have not already done so).
  3. Open the ICP Expert software.
  4. Turn on the plasma by clicking Plasma On or by pressing F5 on the keyboard.

The plasma will take approximately 60-80 seconds to ignite. If it fails to ignite, see Plasma not igniting for further information.

Tip
Analyses should only be performed when the polychromator has heated to 35 °C and stabilized. If starting from instrument shut down, this can take approximately 2 hours.

For optimum analytical performance, it is recommended that the plasma is turned on from standby mode at least 20 minutes prior to analysis to allow it to stabilize. If the instrument has been turned off for an extended period of time, a longer warm up may be necessary.

  1. Click IntelliQuant Calibrations in the toolbar on the Start page.
  2. Select the appropriate instrument model number at the top left of the window.
  3. Click New Calibration on the bottom left of the window.
  4. Click the name to rename the calibration.
  5. Select the elements to be included in this calibration.
  6. Click Conditions. Edit the analysis conditions.
  7. Click Measure Standards.
  8. Enter the number of standards and the concentrations of each element in the standard solutions.
  9. Select the standards to measure in the Measure column.
  10. Click Configuration. Select the features and accessories to be used.
  11. Save the changes.
  12. Click Start Measurement. A warning icon next to Start Measurement indicates an action must be performed before the measurement can start. Hover over the icon for details.
  13. Once the measurements have completed, click Calibration Results.
  14. Click each element to view the wavelengths found and measured and their respective intensities, calibration and scan graphs. You can also adjust the Calibration Fit and Force through options for post collection data analysis.

The new Calibration will now be available when performing IntelliQuant screening and quantitative methods with IntelliQuant enabled. Choose it from the Calibration drop-down on the IntelliQuant analysis page in the worksheet.
